Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord Jesus. We invite you to attend our Charge/Church Conference on Monday, October 29, at 6pm. This is the next important step in realizing our vision of placing a new church building on our Milburn property. The Building Committee has been working since June 11 of last year to design a structure that will facilitate the mission of our congregation. Their mission was to design a new building with a sanctuary and Sunday School classrooms on the new property and to offer plans for the renovation of our current building. They have been working diligently at this task and have prepared a proposal for us to act on. Now, before we move further into the financial planning stage of this process, we need your vote to approve the work our Building Committee and architects have put forward.
Our Purpose at O’Fallon First United Methodist Church is to “connect imperfect people… to a perfect God.” We know there are many people in our local area unconnected to any church community. We desire to be a church that does whatever it takes to connect these people with one another, and with our perfect God. Jesus said, “The fields are ripe for harvest,” (John 4:35) and our vision of a new home in the midst of where our city is growing the most, is one way our faith community can take to the fields.
On October 29, we will hold two meetings concurrently. The first is our annual Charge Conference in which we approve the vision, budget, and other annual documents required by our denomination. Immediately following the Charge Conference, we will have a Church Conference in which we will vote to move forward with the next steps of the Building Committee’s proposal. This Church Conference is open to anybody who wishes to attend, but our rules state one must be a member of the O’Fallon First United Methodist Church, and present, in order to vote. Please come and help us take the next step in the future growth of our church.
